Introducing Hillside Chiropractor Dr. Dana Celar

Have you always thought that chiropractors only treat low back pain? Thats what I used to think as well. Let me tell you my story... Dr. Dana Celar

I grew up in Niagara Falls, Canada. In high school I was a pitcher on the softball team when I began having pain in my right pitching shoulder. Pain medication would just upset my stomach, and did not provide much relief anyway. Muscle relaxors just made me drowsy all day, which I didn't like either.

A friend of mine recommended that I see a chiropractor. I was surprised, since I thought "chiropractors only treat low back pain". I thought I would give it a try because I was desperate for relief so that I could continue to pitch. After a few visits, my shoulder pain began to resolve, and I was able to pitch without pain, or any medications. I was so impressed with the results, that I decided to become a chiropractor as well!

After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, I attended the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois. Soon after receiving my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, I began working as an associate doctor at the current Celar Chiropractic location. When the main doctor decided to retire, I jumped at the opportunity to continue to work with my current patients and bought the practice in 2004.

Since then, I have strived to create a warm, friendly family practice that treats patients of all ages. I especially enjoy helping children and pregnant women. I love that we can offer a safe and effective option to those who do not want to be dependent on traditional medicine.

Dr. Mike Asks some important questions of interest to Hillside residents - Chiropractor Hillside Dr. Mike Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Would you rather feel good or be healthy?
Ask most people in Hillside and they want to feel good. Careful! Would you take medicine that makes you feel good, rather than vomit to expel improperly prepared food? Every chiropractic patient knows that you can't measure your health by how you feel. True health is when your body works as it should.
